O miraculous Santo Nino! I come before Your sacred Image, moved by love and by hope, and I beseech You to look mercifully into my troubled heart. Let Your own tender Love, always inclined to compassion, mitigate my troubles and alleviate my sufferings. Take from me, if it be Your Will, all unbearable afflictions and let me never surrender to despair. Grant me, Senior Santo Nino, the especial grace I ask from You today in all humility and with a loving trust, and for the sake of Your Sacred infancy hear always my prayers, be generous with Your aid and consolation, that I may praise You, and the Father and the Holy Ghost. I left Philtrade past 2:00 pm and arrived at Malolos around 4:00 pm...after making a quick stop at Barasoain Church, I headed to Malolos Cathedral to view the carroza's which have started to fill the church plaza...

Antique Finds at Philtrade
Since I was in Philtrade, I took the time to look at the various antique or "antiqued" items for sale...
Like this carroza, this will definitely look good for a life-sized Dolorosa or an image of Our Lady of Antipolo or Our Lady of Peace since the word "pax" is carved in the front.
A few boxed away, you'll see this Sto. Nino seemingly looking at you with its adorable eyes to come take him home so he can join the Sto. Nino procession next time...
In another store, you'll see this beautiful detallado image of the Divina Pastora and the Sto. Nino...
There are a lot of items for sale, from furniture to model ships and other curious items...
And of course more santos...

Part 3: All Sto. Nino's
One admirable thing I noticed in this event is the presence of families working together for their santo or image of the Child Jesus. As Fr. Patrick Peyton always say, "the family that prays together, stays together."
This annual event brings together devotees of the Child Jesus from various walks of life...showcasing the best images and the not so good alike...
For instance, take a look at this replica image of Santo Bambino di Araceoli, just look at the face of that Nino, melts your heart away...
And compare if with this image with fake eyelashes...yikes...I am not discriminating anyone here, but let's face it, some people do need to work on their tastes and standards...
The Loving Parents of Jesus, St. Joseph and the Blessed Virgin Mary
Surprisingly, a new Marian image is closing the procession this year. It used to be a replica image of Our Lady of Manaoag. I wonder what happened?

Since I arrived quite early, some of the carroza's are just being decorated and I took it as an opportunity to learn and to observe techniques in floral arrangement, since this is a subject-matter close to my heart...
Sto. Nino of the Chinese Group
I have always admired the floral arrangements on the carroza of this image, and it feels nice to put a face behind the work...
Other Lessons:
This is the carroza of Tingting Cojuangco, and the motif has been more or less the same every year. Even for her Nuestra Senora de las Flores in Intramuros' GMP. Her carroza's are always decorated using white flowers, is this a personal preference? I wonder...
The carroza of Sto. Nino de Marinduque in contrast is colorfully decorated, a popular trend nowadays wherein striation is formed using colors inherent to different varieties of flowers.
Here are other examples of this technique...
I was greatly amazed by how fast this man moves joining cut floral foams using chicken wires, this is the step I least like when decorating carroza's...I guess practice really makes perfect.
Why Bread? I ask myself as I observe these two fellows decorate the carroza. For one, if you look at the finished side, the bread is no longer visible, covered by the foliage. I mean, if you are not going to emphasize it, why put in on the carroza in the first place...I think the bread is put to waste here...best give it to children who have nothing to eat...
There's beauty in chaos...I could just imagine how beautiful the decors will move once the procession starts...
Image owners, in succeeding pictures, stay watch as their carroza's are decorated. Even though they are not the ones doing the arrangements, they make sure that it will meet their standards...
You can see how much devotion is accorded the Child Jesus in every carroza being worked on. No matter how big the carroza, how wonderful or expensive the flowers and accessories used, all these are done to celebrate the fact that Jesus became man, that he was once a child before he fully achieved his mission, to be the sacrificial lamb for mankind's salvation.

January 26, 11:00 am I arrived at Philtrade quite early this year. I am here of course to view the carroza's and the image's participating in the annual procession organized by the members of the Congregacion Del Santisimo Nombre del Niño Jesus in honor of the Child Jesus.
The Official Gazette, a government website, published the greetings of no less than President Aquino to the Congregacion Members in their 35th year.

Your fiesta is also a constant and timely reminder that with God’s guidance, there is no challenge that you cannot surpass. May this occasion serve its purpose of further promoting harmony, goodwill, and justice in your religious community. As you thank the Almighty and your patron, Sto. Niño, for showering you with hope and resilience, may you embody these virtues into actions and lead our people on the straight and righteous path towards dignified, meaningful lives.
The Philippines continues to revel in this exciting period of resurgence. Let us cradle in our hearts an even stronger spirit of bayanihan and a deeper sense of social responsibility, as we achieve greater heights.

Start at Philtrade Grounds
All carroza's participating in the procession all gather at the Philtrade Grounds, some opt to decorate their carroza's here. Afterwards at 3:00 pm, the devotees with their beloved images traverse the stretch of Roxas Blvd. up to Quirino Grandstand where awarding of the best carroza's and street performers will take place.
I noticed this ad immediately upon entering Philtrade, at this point in time this is the best place to advertise a carroza business...
Arriving at Philtrade this early has its pro's and con's...pro's, it is not yet crowded; con's, majority of the carroza's are not yet finished; some of the images are even covered in sheets of fabric to protect it from the sun
The Festejada Image
The Santisimo Nombre del Nino Jesus or the Most Holy Name of the Child Jesus, Festejada image of the Congregacion. This image is enshrined at the Sto. Niño Chapel in Violago Compound on E. Rodriguez Avenue in Quezon City.
Year after year, the carroza of the image is colorful and bold, and this year is no different. I agree that it best suits the cheerful visage of the image.
Angels Brought Me Here
The next two images in my opinion have the most memorable carroza this year. I am not sure though what the theme was this year of if they won but they surely did push carroza arrangements to a new high...heavenly, like an army of angels swooped down to carry on their wings the Son of God.

This carroza may not win the most beautiful decoration award or something but I am truly amazed in the amount of effort put into this carroza. Opportunities brings out the best in every Pinoy. I just have to record the carroza in video, a picture will do no justice to the amount of thought and effort poured into it. Just watch the video to see what I am saying...
The Most beautiful carroza
This carroza is the most beautiful carroza in existence in the whole country. Not just by its sheer size, but in the amount of details adorning every inch of its body. This is my first time to actually inspect the carroza from "head to feet" since in Intramuros' GMP the carroza is always covered in tons of flowers and I was pleasantly surprised in the ornate carvings I saw which is normally hidden from plain sight.
